Todd Haberkorn's tattoo[edit]

Funimation posted a video confirming that Todd Haberkorn got his Fairy Tail tattoo for the 100th episode being dubbed. Should that be mentioned here, the character list, and/or on the main article? This would confirm that Funimation has committed to producing the English dubs up to at least 100. -AngusWOOF (talk) 17:04, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

New season arrangements[edit]

I looked at the Funimation website, and it seems their order of seasons is different from the way Wikipedia has it:

  • Season 1 - Episodes 1-48
  • Season 2 - Episodes 49-72
  • Season 3 - Episodes 73-98

It seems they're divided by sets of new opening and ending sequences: Season 1 has four (1-11, 12-24, 25-36, 37-48), and Seasons 2 and 3 each have two (49-60, 61-72, 73-85, 86-98).

As for Japan, it doesn't really seem to have a set number of seasons, and the episodes on the official Japanese site are listed by OP/ED sequences as well. I also heard that the anime was supposedly going to end at 48 episodes, and later 72, before the studio decided to make more, though this claim is currently unsourced. Still, I propose we split up the seasons to match Funimation's lineup, since Funimation is the only company that actually has a seasonal lineup for this show, whereas the setup here seems to be more assumed. User:Immblueversion (talk) 21:18, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

I would agree with the above proposal. As opposed to the One Piece seasons, Fairy Tail does not have a set number of seasons in Japan. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 03:29, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
ToSjones23: Well, I think I've put this off long enough. Funimation has released every episode on their website, so we now have a firm idea on how to split the article, if there are still no objections after all this time. Anyway, rather than listing 5 seasons, it has 7:
Dubbed
  • Season 1 - Episodes 1-48
  • Season 2 - Episodes 49-72
  • Season 3 - Episodes 73-100
  • Season 4 - Episodes 101-125
  • Season 5 - Episodes 126-150
  • Season 6 - Episodes 151-175
  • Season 7 - Episodes 176-current
However, I think we should wait until Saturday for the next episode to air. Judging from the pattern of the last four seasons, Episode 200 just might be listed as the last episode of Season 7, while Episode 201 may be the first of Season 8. Also, to keep the articles consistent with other season lists, I propose we rename each article from 'List of Fairy Tail episodes (season #)' to 'Fairy Tail (season #)'. User:Immblueversion (talk) 19:26, 21 September 2014 (UTC)
I have no objections. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 22:56, 22 September 2014 (UTC)

Season 5 or Series 2?[edit]

What are we calling the newest season of Fairy Tail? A couple anons have been pushing for Series 2 with a reset episode count rather than the Season 5 continuing from 176+. KirtZMail 12:39, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

Season 5. Both the official websites, fairytail-tv.com and TV Tokyo's site use 176+, as does the official Fairy Tail twitter account, and the director of the anime. Likewise, the advertising that's a primary source of upcoming titles lists them as 176+. Examples: 1, 2, 3. More importantly for the purposes of Wikipedia, Funimation also uses 176+ As they're the U.S. home video distributor for the series, it can reasonably be assumed that when the DVD/BD release reaches that point, it will continue to number them 176+. The only ones using the term 'Series 2' is Crunchyroll, and those who derive their information from it. 173.79.102.70 (talk) 23:40, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

Season 6[edit]

With the Tartaros arc confirmed to be starting this spring, I believe we should create a new 'season' page once we get the titles of the episodes that pick up the manga's storyline again. User:Immblueversion (talk) 01:26, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

Create a S6 page as a redirect to S5 for now if you want. We'll still have to wait and see what Funimation will do with the episodes (unless they already confirmed its S6). —KirtZMessage 01:34, 16 February 2015 (UTC)
Right, I got majorly sidetracked with the whole 'Renumbering by Funimation's count' thing. In fact, for now, I'll be moving each individual season page from 'List of Fairy Tail episodes (season #)' to 'Fairy Tail (season #)', since that seems more in line with other such pages. User:Immblueversion (talk) 02:42, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
I've reverted this change because the normal naming convention for season lists under WP:ANIME are 'List of Title episodes (season #)' (Category:Lists of anime episodes). That is because these lists support a main article and are not independent articles. There are a few exceptions (Bleach, Case Closed) do to an editor edit waring over the names, however, this should not be taken as the norm. To be an independent article, the page must have its own reception, development/production sections, and release history. —Farix (t | c) 11:55, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

Well, with the upcoming story arc getting its own trailer, the new OP and ED debuting next week, the next episode marking the beginning of the spring season, and this week's episode preview being narrated by Lucy instead of Natsu and Happy, I think we should consider season 6 beginning with episode 227. Unless, of course, we should reformat the seasons as Funimation lists them on their website before determining. User:Immblueversion (talk) 02:51, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

Fairy Tail Episode 176 Dubbed
So I just took a look at how Funimation lists the season and they go straight up to season 7. We should use their order; why aren't we doing this and how did we end up with 5 seasons on Wikipedia? —KirtZMessage 16:12, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
My thoughts exactly. Before it was just an assumed order based on the beginning and ending of story arcs, usually keeping to no more than 51 episodes per 'season'. However, I've been unable to split them myself due to various reasons, but now I'm working on it. I feel we should change that (and ditch the season colors). User:Immblueversion (talk) 00:58, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
The colors are purely for aesthetic purposes and can be removed or left alone if they aren't too distracting. The season 1 page is fine. Everything else between 2-6 needs to be rearranged. In addition, the main FT page, the navbox and this list page need some adjustments to account for the changes. That's too much for me to do right now so I'd rather someone else did it. —KirtZMessage 15:25, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

I've got that covered. However, the headers on each page still need to be updated. We'll need to update references and add the following images for the DVD volumes:

  • Season 3 - Volume 19
  • Season 4 - Volume 26
  • Season 5 - Volume 32
  • Season 7 - Volume 1 (2014 ver.)

Could anyone else get them? User:Immblueversion (talk) 16:06, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

English Release Dates[edit]

Is it possible to get someone more competent to post the English dubbed release dates? Or at least fix them to people will stop toying with them. Every time I come back here, they are changed or rearranged. I won't bother checking their references as they are obviously false. They have episodes scheduled to be released soon that have already been released on Funimation's website months ago. At the time I posted this, 175 is the latest English dubbed episode that has been released. As far as I know, 176+ won't be released until August. However, this wiki states them not to be released for an extremely long time (based on the pattern it seems to hold), though 176 is still appropriately scheduled. So, can someone who knows what they are doing fix this? 216.237.234.29 (talk) 08:57, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

The references are the most accurate as they have ever been. The English Air Date parameter is for episodes that premiere TV on the Funimation Channel. It is NOT to be used to cite online releases. —KirtMessage 10:00, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
I think finding a place to cite online releases would be a great idea. I'm always checking the episode list for information on new (and existing) English-dubbed episode releases. It's a shame it doesn't reference those dates anymore on the page. As of right now, The English air date column appears a bit confusing in my opinion. 97.123.163.220 (talk) 22:59, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

Im glad I came here and read this post as I was mortified by the dates I saw for when the English episodes have aired as its 70 episodes behind what is currently out online. I agree with the above post, it is confusing and I think needs changing. I dont think anyone really cares when the episode gets shown on tv but would like to know what has actually been aired, regardless of platform. Having seen episode 212 and this website say we re only on 152 is kinda pointless imo.

Can we please add the dates of (upcoming) dub releases - kind of like how they do on One Piece's episode guide where the include DVD release dates? The one's here are still very confusing (or missing) when in reality many of the episodes are available online and in DVD format. The page just clearly doesn't provide a good indication of the overall status of Fairy Tail's episodes and I wish that this can be modified. Thank you. 97.123.171.3 (talk) 17:04, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

We are using the 'English airdates' for the English TV broadcasts and we should not use online or DVD releases. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 17:07, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Managing Season 7/8 articles[edit]

I've started discussions on the Season 7 and Season 8 talk pages, but they haven't gone much further than that, so I'll try my luck here. Anyway, I noticed someone went ahead and put together a Season 8 article to correspond with the upcoming Fairy Tail Zero anime adaptation, but I can't say I agree with it on account of original research. For one, we've been listing the seasons as seen on the Funimation website since that's the only verifiable season count we have, and right now, the anime is still in Season 7. Not only does the article make an unverifiable claim about the new season, but also its content including the current arc with absolutely zero sourcing. For this reason, I propose we merge the Season 8 article with Season 7, at least until Funimation finally gets around to splitting off an eighth season.

Speaking of which, I am well aware that the Season 7 article is getting pretty hefty. If Funimation doesn't decide to make a Season 8 label, then sooner or later, we're going to have to split it. This is why I propose we make the split by year, with one half covering the first episode in April up until the last episode in March the following year, and every following article adhering to the same pattern until the season/series ends. As things stand, the articles would be titled as such:

  • List of Fairy Tail episodes (season 7, episodes 176–226)
  • List of Fairy Tail episodes (season 7, episodes 227–277) (assuming the trend continues)

Watch Fairy Tail Dubbed

Would this be acceptable for Wikipedia's standards? I believe the simplified episode list shown on the main page can be formatted to make one long, breakless list.

Fairy Tail English

As for the subject of putting Fairy Tail Zero anime episodes in the Fairy Tail Zero article, if you ask me, that all depends on whether or not the anime adaptation is its own separate series from the main anime or not. And from the looks of things, it seems to be a part of the main series, so all info on the anime should belong here, with a redirect provided on the spin-off manga's article for further reading. But we must make our judgment based on primary sources like episode previews and the official websites; we should also consider the possibility that third-party sources from Anime News Network and Crunchyroll may have made an error in coverage by calling the adaptation its own separate series, if not an error in reader judgment.
